One of our favorite Florida events is Aqua Girl, this year taking place May 11 – 15 in Miami Florida. Notable for it’s great events, it’s also a fantastic charitable organization. Have fun in Miami AND help out the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community through the Aqua Foundation for Women.

Happy Holidays and New Year! Looking Forward to 2016!

First we’d like to wish everyone out there, no matter what or how you celebrate, a safe and Happy Holidays and New Year. 2015 was an exciting year for not only us, but for LBGTQ rights everywhere. Though the struggle and fight is not over, great strides were made worldwide for the LBGTQ community. Yes, we still have our share of Kim Davis out there, but we’ll choose to have a brief recap of some of the strides that were made.

Courts all over the country struck down bans on same-sex marriage in states like South Dakota, Alabama, and Nebraska. States and cities/towns reinforced bans on discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment and housing. Countries like Austria, Luxemburg, Slovenia, Greenland, and Mexico made progress for marriage and adoption rights for same sex couples. The Pentagon announced that transgender personnel can openly serve in the US Military starting in 2016. Also, Nepal started to issue passports to transgendered people marking a important cultural shift. Here at home one of the biggest stories was the US Supreme Court ruled that bans on same sex marriage violates the US Constitution. Those are just a handful of the events of progress across the world.
